Dam safety inspection

Release time:2024-02-22

The purpose of the dam safety inspection was to monitor the safety of a stone masonry overflow dam (12m high and 161m long) using the ZZ Universal resistivity meter.

The geological makeup of the region was comprised of Ordovician period limestone and loose Quaternary sediments.

One set of data was collected by placing 64 electrodes along the dam with 3m spacing. The inversion image below shows the areas aligning with 0+107m to 0+112m and 0+120m to 0+125m have low resistivity. Follow up site investigation targeted at these two areas found water leaks.
